The English Language Arts (ELA) program at Alafaq School adopts the Common Core State Standards. Students are exposed to reading, speaking and listening, writing and language skills. In our classes, students are encouraged to think, elaborate, share opinions, make judgments and many other skills that are essential to build their oral and written fluency and expand their content knowledge. As students move from elementary school toward high school, the level of complexity changes along the way. This is due to the fact that the school is gradually preparing students to take the SAT and GAT tests, as well as be fully equipped for college requirements. The main objective of our program is that by the time students graduate, they will have acquired skills such as researching, writing,  critical thinking, debating, and public speaking with fluency and correct writing mechanics.
